![]() Telford Council Watch has been contacted anonymously from the person who set up the second best spoof Telford and Wrekin have seen.
I am sure the person sending the anonymous email will not mind me saying the second best spoof as the first is MP David Wright spending years of pretending to be a politician who gives a monkey’s.
The person responsible for the blog says
I set up the Red Dave blog for 2 reasons:
1. David Wright doesn't get involved with his constituents very much
and you never really hear from him unless it's a photo opportunity or
an opportunity to tell us all about the wonderful Labour government.
2. It was funny!
I thought it was pretty obvious that it was a spoof - yes, he bangs
on about being a "Telford lad" and an "Oakengates lad" and he likes
to talk up the Labour party but not quite as often as on the blog.
Before I set up the blog I did my research to confirm that it wasn't
illegal. Similar things have been done before - an impressionist even
pretended to be Tony Blair and tricked an MP into slagging off
another MP and when the police tried to prosecute him it was thrown
out because he hadn't broken the law. There are spoof news websites -
such as the excellent Daily Mash - that make up "quotes" from famous
people (including politicians) that are really quite offensive but
nobody has complained to the police as far as I know!
A lot of people commented on the blog believing it was real and said
that they didn't agree with what was said but they were glad he'd set
up a blog. His constituents obviously want to talk to him so rather
than complaining that someone made a joke at his expense why doesn't
he take the hint and set up a blog for himself?!
Everyone reading the comments will see that the above comments are in fact true and having commented on the web site myself, I completely agree and support the person responsible whoever he / she may be.
This incident, paragraph in local politics, call it what you may, clearly displays one thing,
MP David Wright is clearly more interested in self preservation than he is in representing his constituency.
Can anyone tell me when MP David Wright last spoke up so loudly and so passionately about anything on behalf of his constituents?
Nobody in Sutton Hill, Randlay, Hollinswood, Brookside, St.Georges or anyone talking about the Town Centre or Telford Town park ever heard a peep from him, this simply proves all the points made.
MP David Wright, recently referred to as “Ichabod Crane” talks about Identity theft in his rant in the Shropshire Star on Monday 12th May 2008, the only thing resembling identity theft here is his impersonation of an MP.
The blog may have been a spoof, but it has proved some valid points like
1. You cannot get a copper to help when you dial 999 after being mugged in the street, but if you’re an MP throwing your dolly out of the pram they will be all over you.
2..MP David Wright is more interested in himself and not his constituency.
3..MP David Wright and his attitude debases British politics and is an example of why Labour are struggling to achieve anything near decent.
