Post Offices are vital Community Resource.

Even though I could do a lot online, I like the Labour Leader Keith Austin

(and he made a big issue of this at full council on 31^st January 2008) use my local post office on a very regular basis for things like

Paying Bills

Getting Stamps

Getting Car Tax

Posting Letters and Parcels

And I see the great benefit that is received through Post office use by many community members of differing age groups.

For some people, the Post Office provides a Social venue were they meet others on a regular basis they could otherwise loose contact with.

The Post Office has gone beyond being a business but has become a valuable community resource playing a vital role in peoples lives.

However, this vital resource is under great threat in every community and as Labour Councillors said at full Council on 31^st January 2008,

“It doesn’t matter if the Post Office is a profitable business, they are closing them down because of their location” –

And whilst Labour Councillors are saying this, Richard Overton is nodding in support.

Well then, what are the Labour Councillors going to do now and what is Richard Overton going to do now that Post Offices face greater threat of closure from their party and There are 90 Labour MPs campaigning to save post office’s and MP David Wright is NOT one of them.

Whilst MP David Wright has voted Strongly for ID Cards, Strongly for Student Top Up Fees, Voted Strongly against a Transparent Parliament,

Came joint first (out of 645) in claiming additional cost allowances of over £22k 2006/07

Incidental Expenses £19,753 2006/07

And

Staffing allowances of £71,538 2006/07 which is a £36,242 increase on 2001/02

MP David Wright clearly supports the closure of Post Offices which will rip the heart out of many communities and have an adverse affect on many small businesses.

What about all the old people who voted for you. They need the post office, they
dont all have computers and able to do the online banking.

In a word he is not bothered, people who voted him always vote labour, so
anyone can get in, and anyway an election is not coming soon is it, so he will
keep his nose in the trough in the knowledge that us idiots will vote him back
in again.

It's all very sad. I would like to respect my M.P but he makes it very
difficult. He is obviously an opportunist time server in the Grocott tradition
and this seems the way it is in Telford because of the low political
intelligence in the area.I note he is a top claimant for allowances. As he does
not live as far away from parliament as many MP.'s this is questionable
especially when Lady Grocott works as his secretary.Does he pay her?.As to the
post office you can bet your mortgage,if you can still afford one,that he would
be vehementally opposed if the Tories were making the cuts.The more we look at
parliament the more the question should be that it is our duty not to vote at
the next election rather than ,as we are told ,doing our duty and voting. The
smallest possible turnout,preferably zero, would be the best thing for
democracy.

I suggest ajcobbler stop talking cobblers and look at the Parliamentary
allowances for the last 5 years. David Wright is actually the lowest spending MP
in Shropshire and has been consistently.

I don't support the guy, but let's
stick to the facts ey!!??!!
