Telford has lost faith in its Labour MP David Wright

David Wrights Campaigns

Oakengates Rent Freeze

He launched a this campaign stating

“I am shocked and disgusted that the council could be planning such a disastrous move which could destroy a large number of businesses in Oakengates. The council needs to come clean about what it is planning and it is time all local councillors stood up for Oakengates.”

Whilst we agree that rent hikes could be the wrong move, if the rumours are true and this is what he based his campaign on, it is even more concerning that when the previous Labour administration planned and then implemented rent rises prior to the 2007 local elections, MP David Wright remained extremely silent on the issue.

This silence meant he actually supported any rent hike but changed his stance once the Conservatives gained control of the council.

YOUTH VOICE

David Wrights says on his web site

David Wright MP said:
“Young people in Telford need more things to do and places to go, and they also deserve to have a say in how our council and our country is run. That’s why I am delighted that the Labour Government will be investing in new and improved youth facilities in every community and it’s also why I think every young person in Telford should make their views known on lowering the age of voting to 16.

Yet he remained quiet when Labour were closing youth facilities throughout Telford and Wrekin. He sat back and stayed quiet when Labour closed youth clubs like Gower street in St.Georges.

Only when Labour quite rightly lost the administration of Telford and Wrekin did MP David Wright find his voice. The irony is, he tried to blame the Conservative administration for the youth centre closures that Labour implemented.

MP Demands Action on Local Pubs

This campaign was launched in March 2009 yet he never uttered a single word when other pubs were being burnt out in Telford.

MP David Wright remained quiet on the repeated arson attacks on the Royal Bingo Hall in Dawley,

March 2007: The White Hart pub in Hinkshay Road, Dawley, was left a blackened shell when a blaze ripped through the boarded-up building in the third suspicious fire at derelict pubs in Telford in that month.

MP David Wright remained silent

August 2007: Two derelict houses were gutted by fire following an arson attack in Summerhill, Sutton Hill, Telford.

MP David Wright again remained silent

October 2007: The derelict Red Admiral pub in Sutton Hill was a magnet for arsonists, being targeted repeatedly, and was eventually razed to the ground.

MP David Wright Again remained silent

And whilst we remain on the subject of arson, never once did MP David Wright speak up about the constant arson attacks on derelict residential properties on Sutton Hill. The fact remains that he did everything he could, not only to avoid the subject, but he also did everything he did to avoid the area.

Housing Summit

After bowing to public pressure, MP David Wright finally held a housing summit in November 2008, two years after the initial promised date.

MP David Wright then promised to have the report ready for February 2009, by February 2010 MP David Wright has failed to deliver the promised report even though he issued a newsletter in approx March 2009 stating it had been finalized.

MP David Wright sent out the following email

JUNE 30th 2009

Dear John

I will be producing the report as soon as I can, I am swamped with work at the moment. I'll keep you posted.

All best wishes

David

Yes, David Wright was busy, busy ensuring his own career was given a higher priority than his constituency as this is when he became the Labour Whip.

MP David Wright has now removed ALL reference to the housing summit from his web site, proof he has NO intention of keeping his promise.

TWITTER

And of course there is the latest debacle over the Twitter comments he made and then subsequently lied about. What is he going to say next about it, lets face it, whatever he does say is going to be far removed from truth.

SOUTH TELFORD

What did MP David Wright ever do for the likes of Sutton Hill, NOTHING, he avoided the area for years and has never returned to it, other areas suffer equally because of his ignorance.

SUMMARY

MP David Wright has taken every opportunity to further his career even if it meant lying, breaking every promise he made and taking the opportunity to jump on any passing band wagon.

He has only ever spoken up on any local issue only when the administration changed and when a general election came into site.

A vote for MP DAVID WRIGHT is a wasted vote and this man should never be trusted.
