TCW CHRISTMAS HAMPER APPEAL RECIVES MASSIVE BOOST
The TCW Christmas Hamper Appeal has received a major boost.
Through the generosity of Bob Jenkins and his colleagues, residents from Brookside, Woodside, Randlay and some Borough Councillors, we now have enough tinned food to put together approximately 10 small hampers to benefit those in need at Christmas, especially the homeless.
Whilst this may not sound a great deal, it is 10 people that will not need to worry about food this Christmas and shows that even when times are hard, people are still prepared to give to those less fortunate than ourselves.
WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH THE TELFORD HOUSING SUMMIT?
![]() This is a very important question as this topic has gone extremely quiet and a number of people are expressing genuine concern with the sudden lack of communication.
On the 11th September 2008 MP David Wright issued a letter saying
“We will set a meeting with a Senior Representative of the Council and the Trust to discuss the scope of the Summit. I want this meeting to take place in the next two or three weeks and I will ensure that you are invited”
Unfortunately, this failed to happen and I now express further concern to MP David Wright with regards this fundamental failure.
You placed this in writing, yet have failed to keep your word or maintain any effective communication.
If a Telford Housing Summit is to happen and be effective you have to ensure that all relevant parties are invited and allowed to take part.
This became a political ping pong at the Full Council of 25th September 2008 and to date, MP David Wright and Telford and Wrekin Council have issued a vessel of empty and broken promises.
![]() Yet sat in the back ground is MP Mark Pritchard saying nothing about Housing, Social Housing and Homelessness with him and his office ignoring legitimate contact.
Unfortunately, MP Mark Pritchard tried to justify his support for Social Housing and Homeless by saying
“In 1996 I did a ten mile run with a pack on my back for homeless people”
Well, whoopee MP Mark Pritchard, I and others are more concerned about what you have or have not done since becoming an MP, lets face it, other than shaking hands with A list celebs and talking about monkey’s, your actions to represent your constituency are not very well documented.
But as you are in a one horse race, I suppose you’re not too bothered.
TIGHTEN THOSE BELTS
![]() As we enter a recession, which I believe we are already in and we are required to tighten our belts, the administration voted to give itself a nice little pay rise that will cost the tax payer approximately £132,000 next year.
Whilst residents are facing increased fuel bills, increased cost of living, face having homes repossessed, stare down the barrel of job losses, face pending increased council tax, they decide it is prudent to give themselves more money.
Couldn’t this money be better used to support keeping Council Tax down, support senior citizens, support homeless people, support youth support?
Yes it could, but it won’t
I challenge Council Leader Cllr Andrew Eade to actually start delivering on his pre-election promises.
