Its Profitable to be in the Garden of Eade
The Conservative administration must be laughing all the way to the bank as they walk through the garden of Eade.
Whilst the world faces financial turmoil, Telford and Wrekin Conservative Administration are set to line their pockets at our expense.
Whilst many residents struggle to pay for the basics, the Conservative Administration has done nothing to ease the financial burden placed on the poorest members,
The last year has seen
Council tax Increased
Monies removed from Libraries
Monies removed from Homelessness storage
Monies removed from charitable Support
Meals on wheels increased
Carers Cost increased
The cost of top earners in the Council increased by £1,000,000
Assets Sold without public consultation
Business premises Sold
Mistakes made on concessionary Bus Fares
Mistakes made over Telford Town Park and single people
The HQ and 14 acre site put up for sale without public consultation
Bulk Waste Charges introduced.
Councillors and Officers cheating on votes over Telford town Park
And next year will see Council tax increase again by at least 3%
Whilst residents face making cut backs, the Conservative Administration are set to say yes to filling their pockets at our expense. This will go through as they have the majority.
The cost of Councillors allowances is set to increase by almost £143,000
When compared to the year 2007 / 2008 with one of the biggest beneficiaries being the Leader himself.
The Leader and The Cabinet are set to gain the most and they now have assistants. Some of these relationships are not working effectively, with communication between the Councillor responsible for Environment and his assistant being ineffective.
Andrew Eade in his leaflet issued during the 2007 election said,
“An Open and Honest Council that responds to the Community”
“An Accountable Council that spends our Money Wisely”
The leaflet outlined a number of promises that he has failed to deliver and he went further to make promises like
“Allowing Residents to speak at Full Council”
Another empty promise that again Andrew Eade has failed to deliver.
Having taken seats on quango’s he once criticised, having added to the financial burden of vulnerable community members, he is now on course to line his and his colleagues pockets even further.
Now we know why some have nick named him “the smiling Assassin”
This is an absolute disgrace and a man whom I thought would deliver effective change for the benefit of the resident has made empty promises and turned Telford and Wrekin into a place of discontent and increased poverty.
I am deeply disappointed and would rather spoil my vote before I ever voted conservative (note the small C)

Many people thought the referendum over Telford Town Park was going to be the Swan Song for Telford’s Top Campaigner John Evans.
But many are now saying, “O” Good Evans he’s right back on the campaign trail again.
The seasoned veteran soon pounced when he saw the government quango English Partnerships fencing off a large area of land along Stirchley Avenue.
English Partnerships, in their usual manner, chose to bring contactors from Blackpool to fence off the land, but chose not to consult with residents who do not have access to area of land that has been in full public use for a period of around 30 years.
English Partnerships have not only underestimated the strength of public feeling, but also underestimated the resolve John Evans who has again pounded the streets of his community rallying support.
In a significant show of support, many residents attended Hollinswood Community Centre to voice their concerns about the actions of English Partnerships.
John Evans spoke passionately and other residents spoke through a veil of tears about being shut out from this land.
For approximately 30 years, residents have maintained full access to this green area, walking, pick nicking, blackberry picking, horse riding and carrying many other sociable activities. English Partnerships chose to shut out the public even though they had cared for the area and reported any problems on the land.
English Partnerships say they have not fenced of all the land, but the area has its own obstacles that make it inaccessible from the road because of steep banks and have installed drainage in the 80’s that is to protect the area from flooding.
English Partnerships say that this area is to be leased for horse grazing, many believe this is a front as they want to stop public access over a given length of time, thus releasing it for development at some future point.
Hollinswood Parish Council meeting was chaired by Cllr Harvey Unwin who listened to everything the public had to say and his professionalism was supported by the Parish Clerk Katrina Baker and the other Councillors present.
The Parish are now going to give the residents the support they wanted and have put the needs of the resident first in a vote that was unanimous to tackle English partnerships head on.
This is going to be a rough ride and English Partnerships are going to find a display of community solidarity the thought they had knocked out of them.
