Wellington History Group has launched a new magazine, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund of £7,800. The event was launched at a special event at Wellington's Civic Centre and the organisers were encouraged to see a packed house of approximately 80 invited guests. So many people turned up that extra chairs had to be laid out.

Wellington's Christmas lights are in the process of being set up, Wellington News can reveal. Specialist technicians have examined the fittings and cables and light features and have replaced or upgraded these, where it has been found to be required. As can be seen from the photographs, the display lights and features are being put into place ready for the big switch on which will take place on Saturday 29th of November. The events on the day will run from 10.30am until 4.30pm, when the lights will be switched on.

HEART of ENGLAND fine foods (HEFF) is once again launching its annual quest to find the best sausages and the tastiest juice in the West Midlands and promises to be the biggest year yet. To celebrate Farmhouse Breakfast Week, running from Sunday 25 to Saturday 31 January, HEFF is holding a series of competitions culminating in the prestigious Grand Final at the Mailbox, Birmingham on Thursday 29 January.

The Butter Market, Shrewsbury, is the venue for a charity gig to raise funds for Hope House Children's Hospice. It will be the fourth annual event of its kind, organised by Dinky Productions. It features Smokin' Aces, Guttersnipe and a Burlesque Show featuring burlesque dancers from Shropshire! The shows takes place on Monday29th December form 7.30pm 'til 1am. Tickets will cost £5 in advance and £7 on the door.

Following the resignation of Councillor Bernard Thompson from Ketley Parish Council, Telford and Wrekin Council have issued a notice of the vacancy. There has been no call for an election so Ketley Parish Council has decided to seek candidates for co-option.

Ground-breaking plans to fundamentally redevelop and redesign schools in Telford and Wrekin are set to be given the thumbs up by leading councillors later this month. The £200 million scheme will see four secondary schools and three primary schools completely rebuilt and a further 10 secondary schools remodelled across the borough. Telford & Wrekin Council is poised to take the first significant step to providing futuristic learning environments when the outline business case goes before the council’s cabinet on November 24.

Craft are, for the fourth year, bringing together some of the West Midlands finest craftsmen and women for the Guild's prestigious annual flagship exhibition, 'Gorgeous', over the weekend of November 29th and 30th. The exhibition will be held at Enginuity, Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and for the first time this year, the makers will be joined by many of the region's top food and drink producers in association with Heart of England Fine Foods (HEFF).
