T&W Council Officers on a Cover up Over Telford Stage School

Back in 2007 we as residents were promised “An open and honest council”, it would appear that Council Officers have not been part of this pledge.

The story about Telford Stage School and their use of Dawley Town Hall has hit the headlines in more ways than one and it would appear that TSS have duped more than just one person.

Whilst they communicated with myself, this communication ceased when I forwarded communication to them that contained various allegations and asked for them to clarify various points, which they have not.

It is now being alleged that Telford Stage School rented Dawley Town Hall with a monthly rental agreement of £500 per month.

I will again stress that these are allegations, but these allegations now clearly state that Telford Stage School were to pay £500 rent per month, are allowed to rent out the Hall and retain any profit they make.

It is alleged that they kept the profit but never paid the rent since 2003.

Allegations reach further than Telford Stage School, but are now aimed at T&W Council Officers, who have only recently discovered that the rent had never been paid.

T&W Council are very effective at sending in bailiffs if a pensioner fails to keep their payments of Council Tax, sell off business units to the highest bidder, take action against a business who fails to pay their way.

It is now alleged that these inept officers are swearing anyone and everyone who may know something to secrecy.

Two questions now remain,

1.What action will T&W Council take to recover the alleged rental arrears

2. What action will now be taken against Council Officers who have allegedly failed in their duty at the expense of the local tax payer.

This is an example of highly paid council officers being inept and now we must call for an independent audit of the relevant departments activities.

Clearly I fell for the lines spun by TSS and apologise accordingly to all concerned. We live, we learn, we mistakes, but don’t make the same mistake twice.

A STUDENT has given a stark warning not to mess with MCAT after the popular club drug almost claimed her life.

A STUDENT has given a stark warning not to mess with MCAT after the popular club drug almost claimed her life.

The woman was told by medics the drug would have killed her if she had not sought help quickly, after becoming dangerously ill following a night out in Dewsbury.

The 20-year-old, who would only be identified by her first name, Sarah, had taken illegal drugs before on nights out in the town.

She had also experimented with mephedrone, known as MCAT or meow, a legal stimulant which includes plant food and ketamine.

But nothing prepared her for the nightmare that ensued after she snorted a gram of the legal drug last Saturday. She had also taken co-codamol tablets and had drunk alcohol. Later she started to feel anxious and dizzy which led to paranoia.

"Then my body felt like it was shaking inside. It was terrifying. I went to wake my mum."

Her mum refused to let her go to sleep, calling an ambulance and going with her to Dewsbury and District Hospital.

Sarah's mum said: "She kept passing out and coming round again, scratching herself furiously, digging her nails into her face and neck. Her heart rate had soared to 127 beats per minute."

The doctors told Sarah if she had not woken her mum, she would have passed out and died.

Sarah, of Thornhill, said MCAT was widely available in some of the most popular nightspots in Dewsbury and Batley. She has now vowed not to touch MCAT or any other drug again.

She said: "A lot of people are on it. At £7 a gram it is dirt-cheap. But it's addictive and can make you aggressive.

"Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's safe. My message is that it's not worth it. I nearly died."

Sgt Damian Roebuck said: "Just because something is legal, doesn't mean it's safe. A perfect example of this is MCAT. This has severe side effects, with some users becoming extremely violent and showing significant mental instability."

A piece written by Adam Wolsteholme that I hope serves a stark warning to everyone that is using or considering using M-Cat or referred to as meow.

Whilst it is legal to buy and have, the only way anyone can be prosecuted is because they ingest it, it is illegal to use this substance for human use. The government is already coming under fire by some as they are looking into this as a drug. Unfortunately, some people are selling this as a drug and are well aware what the buyer intends to use it for.

I certainly hope that this substance misuse receives greater coverage throughout Telford and Wrekin as I can assure you its use is a lot wider than people think.

This drug will ruin people’s lives and not just the life of those that choose to use it.

AFC TELFORD UNITED – NOT JUST A FOOTBALL CLUB

AFC Telford United has become synonymous in its reputation as a football club and has enjoyed considerable success over recent years.

But there is more to AFC Telford United that goes well beyond football and like an octopuses tentacles, reaches out further and into many if not all communities throughout Telford.

The area I refer to is the area of youth support and education. The club does not blow its own trumpet with regards the success it has in youth support and to some extent that is understandable.

When working with or supporting young people, there is a very fine line in letting people know what you do and being seen to gain some notoriety or publicity for doing it.

I believe it is this fine line that causes AFC Telford United to remain quiet about its achievements and many other organisations who do similar positive work to also remain silent.

Chairman Lee Carter wears many different hats, from grounds man to safety to youth worker, many if not all of the players do similar, they are not just footballers, but also full fill a role as role models to young people, both directly and indirectly.

Over the past few years I have had the pleasure of meeting many young people, many of whom have experienced various difficulties in their short lives. Some have lost direction through no fault of their own only to be given a fresh outlook on life when having become involved with AFC Telford United.

Some of these young people have received football coaching from various players and many have received educational support from the players and staff at the club.

I know all to well what a positive influence a successful sports person can have on a young person and know that as a role model and mentor they can have a positive effect. Often, they can reach a young person in ways family, teachers, social workers and other professional bodies cannot.

AFC Telford United is giving many young people support. The support given is the club thinking out of the box and assisting many who do not work too well in the traditional arena of a school or classroom environment.

There is something very special about being taught something by a star you admire, whether that be football, boxing, hockey or even mathematics. The young person listens, acts differently, but most of all listens and learns.

Having recently visited the club, I saw at first hand the passion and tenacity the club has with helping young people. I have also come to the feeling that the club has or had become an accidental political pawn, when you work with many partners and like minded bodies, politics will always creep in there somewhere, politicians who aim their frustration towards the club, need to think outside the box, some would benefit from seeing what the club does at first hand.

Apart from the passion and the tenacity the club shows to its youth support, I was struck by something new.

All too often, we hear statements like

“If our work only helps one, or stops one, then it has all been worth it”

AFC Telford had a different train of thought,

“We want to positively impact on every young person that walks in our doors”

A view I’ve shared myself and still share today.

I can honestly say that AFC Telford United is positively influencing many young people in new and positive ways. This positive influence is far reaching in a way that cannot be measured and this positive influence will last long after we have gone, but also influences those that are not only the future of the Borough, but those that are our decision makers of tomorrow.
