A very bright council lady from Bucks has told the B.B.C that rural and semi rural street lighting in Bucks is to be removed. We are told that people want to see the stars at night and that safety matters have been considered.
Apparently it is not an incentive for burglars because they will not be able to see where they are.Incidentally, the lady said that the decision would have to be reviewed after three years as regards any accidents. Strange that, when one considers that our authority did not wait three years before getting a prize for changes to the A442 and is already bringing in the long distance speed camera whiz.
Note also that this "carbon footprint"saving is not to be used in urban areas and we can be sure that council and government lights,as well as businesslights will continue to glow throughout the night.

Right, so burglars will not carry a torch or will only prefer to carry out burglaries in well lit areas instead of using the cover of darkness to enter buildings and run off with their swag.
If burglaries do increase, i'm sure they'll follow the A442 example and change the way they calculate them ie:-
It only counts as a burglary if crried out in day time or in an area that is well lit.
