Although I do not know how Independents can have a Leader?

I think they have to have a leader in order to be recognised as a group on the council, which means they get their share of committee places. I agree it sounds odd!

Does that mean we do not have to listen to him sounding off.

Gary Davies will not be rid of as easily as people think. He is a born survivor much like some organism in a swamp,which though a lower life form,has a unique survival capacity. More highly evolved organisms will choke in certain environments but such as Gary will survive by hook or by crook(so to speak).Garys environment is local politics where there are many others like him. They have no shame and are so bent on their own opportunism they are not disposed to deal with him. In fact the system encourages him to play leadership games so as to be on committees.

Gary is able to indulge his own independence with also being in a power position. Thus he became the leader of "The Wild Bunch".Some say they will bring him down but the world of politics gives him an in built advantage.He knows how to play the game,how to insinuate,how to pose.He is good at it. A wise person passing by the murky pond will see a toad but the locals see a prince,cobblers

If Gary Davies IS independent, can someone please explain why Labour never, EVER field a candidate against him? Funny that, isn't it?

Rumour has it Matt that an asian lady was going to stand for College ward last May, but was promised a job if she didn't!

Also I believe there was an asian lady working in Woolworths who left in July to go and work at the Borough.

Maybe just rumours, but it makes you think doesn't it?

Mind you, since Labour lost control of the borough, councillor Davies' influence has dropped a bit. Even though he isn't a member of the Labour Group.

And Gary never did answer the question about nominationg the labour candidate who stood at Ercall Magna - (i think it was there)

Gary does seem to have the habit of ignoring awkward questions.
