Firms hear freight terminal plans
The opportunities offered by a rail freight terminal in Shropshire are being outlined to more than 100 firms.
Telford International Rail Freight Park will be built next to the town's Hortonwood Industrial Estate.
The terminal is expected to be completed by the spring of 2009 with at least £8m coming from public bodies.
Telford & Wrekin Council and its partners are explaining why companies should invest in the project at a presentation in Coalbrookdale.
Proposals have involved reopening two-and-a-half miles (4.02km) of track from an existing spur off the main Shrewsbury-Wolverhampton line near Wellington, which has been closed since 1991.
The terminal would be capable of handling all types of freight and four freight trains a day.
Telford and Wrekin Council said a total of £8m was being provided by the council, Advantage West Midlands, the European Regional Development Fund and English Partnerships to create the infrastructure to handle the rail freight.
