A Nice Trip to Brussels 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago

Apparently several of our Council colleagues had a nice little jaunt to brussels recently under the guise of seeking funding.
There is some rumour about who was with who on a room sharing issue.
Tongues are certainly wagging around the offices.

Some years ago Mr Thacher shared a room on a trip away and it was not her husband.
As I recall the hotel had a fire.

The talk here is something similar. A certain person, shared a room with a member of staff, had food etc sent to their room, but their wife was still at home in sunny Telford.
And I bet we foot the bill for someone to have a the equivalent to a dirty weekend.

I am having a little trouble with this story. One problem is that I cannot envisage who would sleep with whom given the appearance of most councillors.
THE SPROUTING TOUGUES AROUND THE OFFICES ALSO CONCERNS ME. I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED THE SHEER ENORMITY OF THE BUREACRACY NOW IN PLACE COVERING A WIDE RANGE OF POLITICALLY CORRECT POSTS WHICH FUNCTION TO JUSTIFY THESE POSTS AND TO CONTROL THE OPERATIONS OF STAFF.WHEN THESE PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING TO DO THEY FILL THE TIME WITH GOSSIP.
It seems that trips to Europe and elsewhere will always be a "necessity"justified by fund begging. But why is this necessary?.Surely saving could be made if there was a will to do so. However, too many cuts might suggest that there is not sufficient departmental posts left to justify senior staff salaries.
Finally,I do not wish to engage in the nonsense that took place between the late unlamented A.J.Cobbler and this Hoop character. However,I could not but notice his typical one line quip. Probably all he could manage no doubt afer an evening at the All Nations. The editor should clamp down on this repartee and should insist on a higher level of debate.
I have some very influential friends who have considered moving on to this site but are put off by the tone of some of the contributers. I accept that in a number of cases the problem is illiteracy rather than sheer ignorance and stupidity.I am willing to give lessons for a small fee, which I will pay back to the site,to those who wish to improve themselves.
Unfortunately, the case with Mr Hoop(away with this specious Lord tosh..a sign of a complex lurking at id level)is somewhat different. This man is obviously highly intelligent, though ,I suspect,an auto-didactic .
Such people operate in an off hand manner, tending to scoff at other opinions. Cobbler was an extreme example of this and I suspect he was an impossible person to live with.If indeed anyone has lived with him.
I understand that Hoop has a long suffering wife who holds him up(both literally and metaphorically). I do understand the mans predicament. I realise that his condition is the result of his being too intelligent for the environment he inhabits.
This terrible "Siberian wilderness" of existence is probably worse than Siberia itself where bannishment may have thrown great intelligences together.
I must admit I feel very sorry for this poor man and can see why he must regularly deaden his senses and sink Lethe ward as Keats wrote. However,I can best help him by being very strict with him and by telling him to throw off the cynical shackles that bound him to the reprobate Cobbler and find his true worth.
Away with the appearance of a lone, unkempt, lurching figure moving across an alien landscape in George Elliots "Silas Mariner"or that of one of the inebriated rustics in Hardy's novels. Now he must brush up ,slick back his hair where necessary, button his collar if possible, and appropriately suit himself before going forth to his daily labour.

Its not a case of sprouting tongues El greco. This is people who get themselves into a possition of responsibility and act anything but responsible.
What people do in their private lives is one thing, but when their privtae lives becomes thei professional life is something else.
If they want to taste the landlords finest meade and chase around the bar maid, fine, but make it in their own time at their own expense.
Can they reallt be taken seriously acting like this.
Threatening eachother with physical harm at meetings.
Stitching eachother up at the turn of a hat.
Then expect them to make a responsible decision.
I for one think not.

I back John 100% on this, I object my council tax being spent on some councillor in a hotel room geting his leg over.
If they want a cheep leg over then they can go to the sex shop in Wellington and buy a blow up doll with there own money.
I think this councillor and it's cheep leg over should be named.
