Industrial action at Telford and Wrekin Council
A list of any Telford and Wrekin Council services that will be significantly affected or closed as a result of next week's national industrial action by two trades unions is now available on the Council's
www.telford.gov.uk website.
The list of any significantly affected services on the Council's website will be regularly updated prior to the industrial action that begins at 0001hrs on Wednesday 16 July and ends at midnight on Thursday 17 July.
Council leader Andrew Eade said: "It is unfortunate local services and people will suffer as a result of this national dispute.
"I am glad relations between the Council and the two unions concerned have remained very cordial and I see no reason for that to change.
"While we recognise our employees' rights to take this action and understand their national grievance, I am confident that the vast majority of Telford & Wrekin Council's services can continue on Wednesday or Thursday unaffected, because so many of our employees are so dedicated to their work and services for the borough."
During the last national day of industrial action in 2006, from around 6,000 Council employees, around 10 per cent supported a call for industrial action and did not work.
Although teachers have not been balloted for industrial action, some school-based support staff may support the action, which could affect some schools. If any school is affected, it must inform pupils' parents or guardians directly as early as possible.
Information about any significantly affected services can be accessed from the front page of
www.telford.gov.uk and will be updated prior to and on the days of the strike next week.
